Nostradamus
and Napoleon

    Did Nostradamus predict Napoleon? The great prophet played word games with the names of Bible figures to protect himself from the Catholic Church and its papacy. The name "Pax Ney Loron" (LATIN for "Peace Not Continuing") is an anagram of "Napolyon Rex" (LATIN: Napoleon Emperor). Listed below are some of the Nostradamus quatrains describing events during the reign of Napoleon. For those who want to check the Old French word definitions, a link to an Old French dictionary is included.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #8 - 1

   PAX NEY LORON will be more fire than blood,

   PAX NEY LORON plus feu qu'a sang fera,

   Bathed in praise, a great escape is assured;

   Laude nager, fuir grand au surrez;

   Those worried will refuse him entry,

   Les agasses entree refusera,

   But doubtful that for long they will hold him confined.

   Pampon, durance les tiendra enferrez.

   The above quatrain contains Nostradamus' famous anagram on the name of Napoleon (Pax Ney Loron) which unscrambles to "Napolyon Rex," or Napoleon the Emperor. This quatrain describes an incident that occurred in August of 1794, when Napoleon was arrested and held at Fort Carre after returning from a military campaign in Italy. The revolutionaries in Paris had just executed Robespierre and were worried that Napoleon was a Robespierre supporter. The Paris revolutionaries had to release the general from jail after his extreme popularity with the French people made it impossible for them to hold him for more than 10 days.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #4 - 54

   Of a name never in the future held by a French King,

   Du nom qui onques ne fut au Roy Galois,

   Never again a destroyer so fearful;

   Jamais ne fut un fouldre si craintif;

   He will frighten the Italians, the Spanish, and the English,

   Tremblant l'Italie, L'Espagne, & les Anglois,

   But to a foreign woman he is greatly attentive.

   De femme estrangiers grandement attentif.

   Napoleon held the title of "First Consul" of France, a title not in the future held by a French king. The Italians, Spanish, and English all trembled when Napoleon took over France. There was however someone who was able to make Napoleon tremble, and that was his empress Josephine, who came from the island of Martinique in the Carribean, and was therefore a "foreign" woman.

     NOSTRADAMUS QUATRAIN #4 - 75

   Preparing for battle, there will be defections,

   Prest a combatre fera defection,

   The chief adversary will obtain the victory;

   Chef adversaire obtiendra la victoire;

   The rear guard will be their (only) defense,

   L'arriere garde fera defension,

   The falling ones dying in the snowy territory.

   Les deffailans mort au blanc territoire.

   This quatrain describes Napoleon's attempt to defeat Russia. Napoleon attacked Russia with an army of 500,000 soldiers, but the invasion did not go well. As in Hitler's invasion in the following century, Napoleon's Grand Armee was defeated by the harsh Russian winter and a lack of supplies. Napoleon suffered a disastrous defeat during his attempted seige of Moscow, and was then removed from the French throne and placed into exile on the island of Elba.

   Napoleon is thought by some to be the first of two antichrists (beasts) described in Revelation 13 coming to bring much death and destruction to the world. You were told that Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo by the Duke of Wellington, but that's simply not true. It isn't true because unfortunately history is always written by the winners. If you want to learn the identity of the person who actually did defeat Napoleon, just click one of the secure book links on this webpage to order your book by Edward Oliver.
